Chalkboard To Do Lists

Did you know that you can buy Chalkboard Contact Paper?? Well you can! The best part is, it's Cheap! Head on over to Amazon and check it out (and order a roll or 3) here.

David and I have a million things to do around the new house. A million. We had paper lists going, but they always ended up getting lost and thrown away. We probably killed 100 trees with all of our wasted paper lists. I needed a better way to keep track of our to do lists and what better way than a chalkboard?

I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a Silhouette Cameo a couple of months ago, so this project was entirely done using that. But there is no reason you can't go the old fashioned way and cut it out by hand with scissor or an exacto knife. I've definitely done my fair share of hand cutting in the past.

First I picked out a shape I wanted for the to do lists, blew it up to the size I wanted and let my Silhouette go to work.

I was really worried about the wrinkle in the contact paper, but once I applied it to the wall I was able to smooth it out.

Learn from me...attempting to transfer contact paper to a wall like normal vinyl does NOT work. Nope. It doesn't. Don't even try it. You'll waste 2 feet of perfectly good chalkboard paper and then you'll be sad.

Instead you will have to peel the top part of the contact paper off and align it on the wall the way you want it. Once it's set, slowly peel the backing back and smooth inch by inch until you get to the bottom. If you attempt to peel the backing off all at once you'll have another disaster. And be sad. Again.

I used my silhouette to cut out the labels for the top, but scrapbooking stickers will work just as well.

Apply your stickers and your lists are done!

David is still working on his to do list, unfortunately. Ha. I kid, of course.

Did you miss me??

Hey! Hey! Guess what? I'm backkkk! I've missed this little blogging world!

It's been almost a month since I blogged. For several reason. The main reason is that blogger was being dumb. It wouldn't let me upload any pictures. None at all. I could have figured out ways around it, but in all honesty, I didn't have the time.

The second reason is this house owning shenanigans. Don't get me wrong, I loooove being a homeowner, but damn it keeps you busy! I know eventually it will slow down and it won't be so many projects day after day, but for now I feel like it's NEVER going to end.

But I'm back and I'm hopeful I can return to my routine of regular blogging. I have so much to show you!!!

Today is just going to be some very random recent pictures. Just for funsies. :)
First bike ride of the year!

Dawson and his beloved Dragon

Just being goofy. Like usual.

Our new addition. Luna

Big ol beast of a dog.

Dylan asked if he could put on some tattoos. I failed to ask where he was going to put them. Sigh.

Anyways. I'm glad to be back! I can't wait to get more posts up!

Green Giant Veggie Snack Chips

I LOVE being a BzzAgent. Have you heard of it? As a BzzAgent you fill out surveys about your life and they send you things to try out. You try them, spread the word and do various things to let them know what you thought. Awesome!

One of the things I was sent was Green Giant Veggie Snack Chips. This was the little blurb we were given as BzzAgents to tell us about the chips.

Brace yourself for a giant surprise from the Jolly Green Giant — he’s now in the snack aisle! Introducing new Green Giant Veggie Snack Chips, available in two delicious varieties:
  • Roasted Veggie Tortilla Chips with Zesty Cheddar are crispy tortilla chips made with real vegetables like carrot, broccoli, and tomato, plus 17g of whole grain
  • Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips with Sea Salt are made with real sweet potatoes and 14g of whole grain, with 40% less fat than regular potato chips*

I'm not going to lie. I was on the fence about trying these. Veggie chips can either be really good or reallllly horrible. Obviously I wanted them to be good, but I wasn't getting my hopes up.

When my BzzKit arrived I was excited to find 2 full size bags, 3 sample bags and a bunch of coupons.

The kids and I immediately opened the bag of Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips. Umm...LOVE. They are delicious. Even the kids devoured them. David, our household Chip addict, even liked them!

Later we tried the Zesty Cheddar Veggie Tortilla Chips. I personally loved them. They were like a healthier, tastier version of Nacho Chips. The kids didn't really care for them and David said they wouldn't replace his current Nacho Chips. Sigh. Can't win em all!

As far as a healthy snack goes, these are a great alternative. I know we are all told to eat veggies, fruit and all that other stuff for a snack, but lets face it. Sometimes you just need something salty. A carrot just isn't going to cut it. At a 140 calories a serving, you can fix that salty craving, without the guilt.

I'm sure in the future we will be buying more of these chips. I know I love them!
