Splash Balls

Have you seen the splash balls that are made from sponges around the internet lately? They are allll over the place! Originally I saw this idea years ago in the Family Fun magazine and stuck them in my "Mom's book O' Fun". I had high intentions of making some, but never got around to it.

Well, I finally did! It took a summer of a boring backyard and a tight budget to push me into it.

These things are insanely easy to make. I made 4 in about 10 minutes. I don't know why I made 4, since I have 3 kids, but I did. I don't think things through all the way sometimes.

Anyways. Head to the dollar store and pick up some sponges and rubber bands.

Take 2 sponges and cut them into 4 strips. If you have 2 colors, stack them in alternate colors. It looks cooler that way. Cooler is always better. I actually don't even know if alternating colors makes a difference, but I'm not going to be the one to find out.

Wrap a rubber band tightly around the middle.

Adjust the sponge pieces until you have a ball shape. Then you are done. Seriously, does it get any easier?

Throw the balls in a bucket of water and very quickly run away.

Your children will think you are the coolest parent ever. At least, temporarily.

Enjoy your cheap, fun and wet entertainment!

Have you made splash balls for your kids?
