It's time for a little confession

Today I'm linking up with Heather, at Cookies for Breakfast, for my first ever, Mommy Confession! Eek!

It's kind of funny that I started this today because I definitely have a confession that is currently happening at my house. Something that I'm sure will get some "Oh my god what a horrible Mother!" gasps. It's really not that bad, but you can be called a horrible Mother for using the wrong brand of diapers now days.

Are you ready??
(insert crappy cell phone picture here)

This is a picture I took 2 min ago. It's currently 9:30 in the morning and one of those children doesn't belong...

Dawson should be at school. He's not sick. He doesn't have an appointment. This Mommy failed to wake up in time to get him off to school. I didn't want to deal with the shame of walking him into school, signing the late sheet that tells the school secretaries that you fail as a parent, having them all secretly judge you after you walk out of the office. Sigh.

In all fairness, my alarm clock Corbin slept until 9:05, which is a miracle that only happens once every 293 days.  Yes, Dawson tried waking me up at 8:46, but still, it's hard to wake up when the little one lets you sleep.

Plus. It's freaking cold out.  No human should have to leave the house when it's this cold out. It really should be a law.
So Dawson is staying home with me. For no reason. He's excited. Corbin is excited. I'm sure in about an hour I'll wonder what the hell I was thinking as they beat the crap out of each other over something stupid. For now I'm drinking my coffee and confessing my sins to you.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that hasn't woken up to bring their kid to school?

  1. While I haven't exactly had the luxury of being the cool mom that lets her child skip (yet!), my mom used to be okay with it every once in awhile! My sisters and I always made excellent grades and were pretty good kiddos...so if we begged and pleaded, every once in a while, we got to stay home. We took turns skipping one day in December to go Christmas shopping and eat lunch with mom and that is such a special memory for us that I can't wait to carry on with my own!

    Nope, you're not a bad mom!! :))

    1. Thank you!

My parents NEVER let us stay home. Even if we were sick we had to go to school and "try" to make it through the day, which pretty much meant "You're going to school and staying there, miserable or not." Dawson does really well in school, so I'm concerned about him falling behind. I'll do some learning activities with him later. :)

  2. Well, I haven't had that happen to me since I work. But, there have been times where I had a day off and I let one of the kids hang out with me for no reason. I think it creates good memories for them. So nope, I don't think you're a bad mom. I think you rock!

  3. You have great kids. I think it's ok for him to stay home. It's a nice treat! I failed today. I was a few minutes late picking Jayla up from preschool. I wasn't technically late but later then what she is use too and walked into the school to be greeted by a crying child who was freaked out that I wasn't coming to get her. :(

    1. Poor Jayla! Routine is great, but it sucks when the kids are soooo used to that routine and one little thing throws them off.

    2. I think she is a little worry wart like her mama. Her routine is all out of whack right now with Scott starting back to school.

  4. I couldn't agree more about it being a law! It's like 8 here but 'feels like -14'. Yuck! You are a GREAT mom and you shouldn't let those snarky secretaries bother you!!

    1. Awww, thank you! I know I shouldn't let them bother me, I don't know why it does. Dawson was late ONCE, the second day of school this year when my truck wouldn't start and we had to walk to school. The looks those secretaries gave...

  5. It was like, -1 all last week in Denver, and I AGREE! No one should leave the house when it's that brutal. NO ONE.
I think it's a nice treat to let him play hooky once in a while. Do something fun, and memorable. :)
Thanks for linking up with me and Heather!

  6. Swinging by from yesterday's link-up! I can't really relate YET, as my two little ones are 2 1/2 and 10 months... BUT with that being said, I am sure that one day I may very well likely be in this same situation! So no worries! ;) And that is just WAY too cold of weather to be venturing out in, I feel bad grumbling about our single digits here... BUT NEGATIVES! Eek.
